Moving from US>UK and continue being a Speech Therapist!
« on: March 16, 2014, 03:11:49 PM »
Hi all -

First time poster, long-time reader. Due to a good job opportunity with my company, my girlfriend and I will be moving to London around June of this year. She is currently a Speech Therapist with her Masters degree and has two years work experience. We are concerned about getting her HPC and RCSLT memberships before we arrive but hear that this can take several months.

Does anyone have any experience moving to the UK to be an SLT and what the process is like, time-length, etc.? She will have sponsorship through my company as a 'heterosexual domestic partner'.

Much appreciated!  ;D

Phil

Hi there! No getting around the HCPC unfortunately.  It does take around four months but they will email you once your documents are received. There is a number to call and I can give you it if you like.  I have called them countless times and they have always answered all my questions to the best of my ability.

I would start working on the application now.
