UK spouse visa application process in Canada
« on: April 15, 2014, 12:40:13 AM »
Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen applying for a UK Spouse visa to join my husband in the UK.

I am confused as to what the rules and regulations for the application process and sending the required documents are.

My question is after applying online and paying the fee and booking an appointment to get the biometrics done do I then get 2 weeks to gather all the required documents and then send it in a binder?

Or when I book the appointment do I take all the necessary documents with me on that day?

I am very confused because I keep reading and receiving mix information.

I am already done with all the documentation and all I need is my husband's P60 Tax form which is going to arrive within the next 2 weeks and I had planned to get the biometrics done so that by that time I would have been able to send all my documents.

But now I am afraid of booking my appointment incase I have to take all my documents and that I may not have them ready by then.

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with this question.

By the way I will be making an appointment in Toronto/Canada and I have heard their rules maybe different...

thank you

This one.  But don't send it in a binder.  Just put it all together and clip it with a binder clip or put a rubber band around it.

You do not need to take your documents to the biometrics appointment.

Your rules do not differ because you are applying from Canada.

Also - I'm not sure why you're posting your questions in the tax forum.  Post in the visas forum.

Not true. The system is slightly different in Canada. You do need to take your documents to the biometrics appointment because they send off your application documents for you when you attend the biometrics and then you arrange through the application centre how your documents will be returned to you.

I can't check all the details at the moment as I have no Internet at home and only 3G on my phone, but I just helped someone who was applying in Canada a couple of weeks ago. I don't know that the info is on the gov.uk site but it is all on the VFS(?) site - they have taken over from Worldbridge in Canada and provide the biometrics and application support.
