applying for UK spouse visa with dual nationality
« on: April 10, 2014, 02:44:51 AM »
Hello,
I am a Canadian citizen applying for a UK Spouse visa from Canada. I also hold an Iranian citizenship, meaning I have dual nationality when I apply for my visa.

I know I have to send my Canadian passport along with my documents, but I am not sure if I also need to send my Iranian passport as well. Do I send both?

Thank you

It says "your own original passport" so I would assume that means any passport you currently hold.
Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!

Is this definitely required? I know the rules have changed since 2009, when I applied, but I also have dual nationality and was never required to send in my other passport--only the passport I was applying for the visa in. There was a place on the form to indicate my other passport though.

I'm not trying to steer the OP astray, I just wondered if anyone had a link specifically stating the requirement to send all passports in. I know that's true for a British passport application.
7/2000 - Emigrated USA to Canada
4/2008 - Met British partner
9/2009 - Moved to UK on Proposed CP/Fiance visa
12/2009 - Civil partnership
3/2010 - FLR(M)
2012 (? it's all a blur, but "old rules") - ILR
9/2013 - Naturalised/Right of Abode
2/2017 - Cannot leave UK until Canadian passport returned by the Home Office!

Also, this is in the tax forum but I don't know how to move it to the visa forum
