« on: October 02, 2012, 05:03:41 PM »
I'm looking for any Americans in Cornwall, Truro area ish.  I've lived down here for over 2 years now and miss a bit of American company.  I've just started a FB page, Americans living in and around Truro".  Anybody out there???

I'm just outside St. Ives! However, I'm not really in the market for specifically American friends - but I'm always happy to meet fun, interesting people (regardless of nationality)!

I was born in the UK and am probably more British than American at this point, though I did live in the US for a long time.

What brought you to Cornwall?

Hi and welcome to UKY!

I'm not in the UK currently but we are considering areas around your area for when we do move. How do you like it there?
9/11/2012 Husband mailed his US citizenship application.
9/17/2012 Received e-mail stating his application has been entered into the system.
9/22/2012 Hubby received letter with date for finger printing.
10/12/12 Hubby went for finger printing.
10/26/12 Dh got a letter stating when he should appear for his interview and test- 11/27/12- just a month away!!!
11/27/12 We went to dh's interview and test- he passed and we went back 4 hours later for the Oath Ceremony! 95 people from 38 countries, really pretty cool!
So he's now a US citizen!!

@Chary: I married a girl from Cornwall and we have a little boy together.  We've split up now but I'm staying here to support my kid.  Been in Kernow over 2 years, about 4 in England total.  I'm looking specifically for Americans in the area to watch football with and stuff like that.  However, I don't mind it if I pick up a few extra British friends along the way ;)

@becca:  I ABsolutly LOVE Cornwall as a place to live, nowhere better in the UK in my opinion.  If I had to choose to raise my son between say, London, or Jacksonville, then I probably woulda just went back home.  But Cornwall is just so SAFE and behind the times.  It's very relaxed and slow paced down here...bit like the south..deep south, not ATL south lol

Sorry, I'm not a football fan! But let me know if there's anything I can do - though with four years under your belt, I'm guessing you're a UK pro by now!  :)

I'm an American in Truro and would also love to get together. Let me know if any events are organized in the area! :-)
