My company is breaking me
« on: November 05, 2004, 01:53:21 PM »
It's costing me to work for my company. I'm not complaining though. I love that we do these things.

First off is Fridays. We pay £2 which goes to a charity and in return we get to wear anything we want. Today I'm wearing my jeans and favorite t-shirt.

Whenever someone has a birthday or baby or going away or whatever, everyone pitches in a pound or two for a gift and card. It's such a nice atmosphere to have.

And then... we have drinks. Last week one of our partners tooks us out for drinks after work and within 4 hours we had built up a £500 bar tab! Very generous partner, if you ask me.

I love this kind of stuff. Do any of your companies do these things?

Where I work if it's your birthday you are expected to provide a morning or afternoon tea (ie cakes) for everyone. This was ok when there were only about 15 of us a few years ago but now there are over 50!

On Pancake Day this year a few people decided to make a pancake breakfast for everyone and we all brought in the toppings, that was cool.

When I went on maternity leave they put on an afernoon tea for me and bought me a whole lot of baby gifts, that was lovely.  There is always an afternoon tea when anyone leaves, and a whip round for a present.

Oh and at Xmas we always do Secret Santa.

Pity the boss is such a ... rhymes with banker!
