Hello all!
I'll introduce myself, hopefully without being too long winded. I'm Jay and I am a Texan married to a Brit. I was in the U.S. Air Force Stationed at RAF Lakenheath (Suffolk/Norfolk border) for five years. Met my DW online after my first year there. Unfortunately I was medically retired from the service (I'm deaf now, hence the nickname Lipreader). We have been living In San Antonio, Tx (my old home town, kind of) for almost three years now. We are going back to the U.K. (Leeds) for our first visit since leaving. We leave on the 16th of December and we can't wait. I'm about to climb the walls it's taken so long to get here.
I'm amazed at how much I already have in common (with other members) either being another Texan or by meeting my wife on-line. One thing I don't have is dealing with the apprehesion of going over for the first time. Since I have already lived there once, I know exactly what I'm missing. Biggest mistake I ever made was letting the service retire me back to the States instead of staying there. Due to a previous marriage, having two sons that live with me from it, we are having a difficult time trying to have the Judge say we can take those two with us abroad to live.
Anyway, I am so very glad to have found this site. I've been reading post after post and it brought back a ton of memories. I very much look forward to making some friends here. Did I mention that we're excited because we'll be there in two weeks!!
Take care all
Lipreader
