Guardian 'immigration stories' feature

There should be more of this kind of thing. People telling their stories.

I read the article/stories, it is interesting and I agree, more of this is needed!

Well it seems there is a strong sort of idea/perception about immigrants. And maybe there are some who fit the stereotype. I don't know. Certainly images from a refugee camp (slum) in Calais are strong stuff....not so much those of a research scientist, or a nurse or a spouse.  But these sorts of things help to show that immigrants are a varied group (groups).

I often think that we as Americans sort of try and blend in quickly - perhaps due to cultural cringe - and probably helped by common social themes, to the point that we become invisible, or maybe camouflaged. So our stories are quiet.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
