4th of July

I am not sure if this is the right place for this topic but Ill try anyways!

This will be my 3rd 4th of July in London, every year I try to do something "American" and I fail.  The first year I went to The Diner, which was horrible, the 2nd year I made a reservation at The Blues Kitchen in Camden and it was awful. 

So I was just wondering what anyone else got up to in previous years that they enjoyed?  Doesn't have to be a dinner, just anything in general. I know there is a Canadian Bar in Covent Garden, does anyone know if there are any American bars around?

We have a BBQ potluck with other expats in the area. This will only be the second year we've done it for the Fourth of July but we have potlucks all year round and they are always a lot of fun.

Today's Time Out had a list of bars appropriately themed to route for each participating World Cup country. For the US, they suggested Honky Tonk in West Brompton. A quick search shows that their Clapham location is having a 4th of July event.

Democrats Abroad UK hosts a 4th of July picnic in Portman Square.  This year it will be on Sunday the 6th.  Tickets are required.  I've never been to this myself but those who have always really enjoy it.  Due to campaign laws only US Citizens can purchase tickets.  So you can bring your favorite Brits but you have to purchase the tix.

On the 4th itself, USAF/RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath are hosting a 4th of July all-day shindig which is open to the public.  It will be at RAF Feltwell which is in Norfolk about halfway between Cambridge and Norfolk.  Admission is free and the public are invited.  The Red Arrows will be performing, and if you've never seen one of their displays, you really should - they're awesome (they're the UK version of the USAF Thunderbirds).
I'll be going to this, driving up from Kent in the morning and then back afterwards, if anybody along or near the route wants to hitch a ride.
