Hi all..
Introductions.. I've never been good at introductions..
So I'm a 26-yo female from Alaska, presently in California. Hobbies include Amateur Radio, electronics tinkering in general, Linux, hiking, and driving (cars not golf

.) I've wanted to visit the UK for many years, but I never expected to move there. Now, with the help of my employer (who is building a new office in Hampshire) I may be able to transfer. And with the way things seem to be going in the US, I'm anxious to get out!
Why? I want to visit/move to a country where things seem to make a bit more sense (at least from the outside,) where people are more tolerant and accepting as a whole, where same-sex couples aren't somehow lesser from straight couples. I'm looking forward to living in a country with a legal, respected monarchy rather than a blatantly fraudulent, illegal, apparently soon-to-be monarchy. And finally, I'm very excited about the new experiences, the new cultures, and that amazing feeling of butterflies in the stomach which is already setting in (and which I can only imagine the intensity of as I board the plane...)
I'm still in the questioning and researching phase, and while I spend hours every day reading sites like this one to answer the ever-lengthening list of questions, I'd welcome any insights, stories, or recommendations from folks who've been through it. Especially anyone who has transferred on a work permit and dealt with a same-sex partner visa, since there seems to be a serious lack of information to be found online on this topic.
Cheers all, and thanks for the best "moving to the UK" site I've found so far!
