Money Transfer Query (JP Morgan Chase USA to Santander UK)
« on: August 13, 2014, 03:43:01 PM »
Hello All,

I have around $20,000 sitting in a bank account I forgot about for the last 10-15 years in JP Morgan Chase USA.

What's the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to transfer this money to my account in the bank Santander in the UK?

If there isn't a way to do this, does anyone know the fees JP Morgan Chase and/or Santander charge for this service?

Information would be much appreciated. I will of course call the banks when I'm home to get an answer for their services.

Regards,
Robert

Hi,

Check specialist currency exchange specialists such as HiFX and Moneycorp. These specialists are able to get better exchange rates for when wishing to move more substantial amounts of money between countries and currencies.

Another alternative would be use Paypal. Check to see what accounts you can link with it. The reason I mention this is I do the opposite. A UK Paypal account linked to my UK HSBC bank account. I also have two personal bank accounts in the USA (BoA & Wells Fargo) and I'm able to 'link' those two accounts to my UK paypal. I can then send money to those accounts for free. Have a read around to see if you can do the reverse and have your UK Satander account linked to your/a USA bank account.

I'm sure there's more on the freeby Paypal method in other posts, however, it's usually for much more smaller amounts so you could transfer over a nominal amount each month till all the funds are here?

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!
