I am thinking of buying a phone in the US and bringing it with me to the UK. It's much cheaper to buy one in the US. Thanks!

Did exactly that with the Samsung Galaxy S5, my in-laws brought it over when they came for a visit. Works just fine on Virgin Mobile! My husband's iPhone 4 works as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 will NOT work over here as it doesn't have a SIM card (figured that out the hard way), and the Galaxy Note 3 won't work with data.

I use an iPhone 4s that was purchased in the US. Most coverage is 3G, with 4G occasionally available.

iphone 5 from the states worked like a charm. Needs to be a GSM one though with a sim card.
