My latest red tape battle - now that the COA has been secured, the scanned letter and information was sent to my new employer's e-security team for "verification". Does anyone have any idea how long this takes? I assume that they are calling up the Home Office employer checking service, but I didn't get a timeline from HR. What does all this involve?
Very, very frustrating. This employer is extremely sensitive to security backgrounds and pretty old school, so I get it, but I figured they could knock my reference number against a database and get an all clear. However, given what I have seen of the IT infrastructure in this country, they probably have to pick up the phone and wait for someone to fill in a piece of paper and then mail it.
