Philly to London in November!
« on: August 12, 2014, 02:10:58 AM »
Hi everyone, I'm Kay from Philadelphia.  I'll be moving to London this November - yay!

While I spent a month in Europe and London this summer (which I thought would be a one-time thing...), an interesting series of events presented me with a bunch of new friends, a potential housemate, and a great job opportunity in my field.  Considering London is one of my favorite places in the world and I was about to celebrate my 25th birthday, I decided to accept the job and do this!

Looking forward to the next few months of planning (and anxiously awaiting the decision on my visa when the app gets in!) and the next few years of being a London girl  :)

Welcome Kay!  What an exciting time for you!  Do let us know if you need anything :)

I'm also originally from the Philadelphia area (but on the NJ side of the river).    If it helps to know-- I experienced far less culture shock moving from the US to the UK than I did from NJ to NC.

Best of luck with the upcoming move :)

Thanks PickledSakura!  That is good to know and very interesting... I'll have to remember to prepare myself if I end up back in the US and move down south :)

Welcome and good luck with the visa app!
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.
