I didn't even think of an inactivity issue. I have my netflix account paid out of my US checking. It's every month, so I won't have to worry. Bullet dodged there!

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Unfortunately I don't have the ATM option for my US account without incurring obscene fees. What I am about to do is send a friend a check for $50 and h will then deposit $10 into the AC every couple of months.

My bank never, EVER advised me of this. The AC that had just been classed as 'inactive' had a LOT of money in it (>$100K). I bit the bullet, closed the AC and transferred the money to the UK. Still have one personal checking AC now which I am monitoring more closely.

Thank you all for the helpful advice, comments, and caveats.  I'm leaving the US for the UK a week from tomorrow (yay!) and thanks to your help I've set up things with my bank accounts I hadn't thought to do before.  Still plenty to do, but I'm getting there!  ;D
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.
