UK to US shipping companies and cost
« on: September 22, 2014, 08:38:54 PM »
Any recommendations? I am trying to search but not coming up with a lot. I am looking for company names, costs and would like to ship things for an affordable price. Thanks.

Thanks! I didn't realize that they shipped from the UK to the US as well. That is great.

Oh wait. I read your post the other way round originally. Not sure that they do. However I know that excess baggage does it the other way round. (UK to US) but Upakweship definitely has a UK partner, I think it's "Euro"- something.

It would probably depend on just how much you're shipping.

My guesstimate for my pending move is about 5-600 cubic feet (about the size of a Luton van). I want a full door-to-door service including packing.

So far Pickfords are talking in the region of £2500, Anglo Pacific marginally more and Crown a little over £3000. Insurance is extra, and varies from 3-5% of the declared value depending on who packs it and how comprehensively you want to be insured. The more expensive options appear to cover things like replacement of a set if one is damaged etc.

I have no experience of these firms so don't know if they are any good. A couple of people I know have used Pickfords and said they were OK, and one person used Crown and rated them highly.

I've spoken to all three over the phone - Pickfords were very slow at getting back to me, Anglo Pacific have been very helpful over the phone, Crown were helpful but since I didn't have so many questions they didn't get the same chance to be helpful as Anglo Pacific did.
I wish I were what I was when I wished I were what I am
