GED to GCSE
« on: January 26, 2015, 12:20:25 PM »
Right, is it possible to translate or convert a US GED to a UK GCSE? I have nearly completed my BSc, and am looking at MA programmes and would like to avoid taking my GCSE's if possible, seeing as I have this diploma from the states, but cannot seem to find anything on line about converting it over....so frustrated HELP!

If you have a bachelor's degree, you shouldn't need GCSEs. What makes you think you do?

Yes, GCSEs are pretty much irrelevant once you have a degree.

Since if you have a BSc, it will be assumed that you already have at least 5 GCSEs (or US equivalent) plus at least 3 A-levels (or US equivalent), because you wouldn’t have been able to get your BSc without them (i.e. they would have needed to check you had the equivalent qualifications to GCSEs and A-levels to get on the BSc course to start with)… so there is no reason why an MA postgraduate degree programme wouldn’t think you already have the equivalent qualifications from the US.
