The font looked fine to me.

Enjoyed your Helensburgh post, mainly because I live in Helensburgh too.  :)
I've just moved here in December after living in Glasgow for many years, so I'm not really used to it yet.  At the moment it kind of just feels like an annoyance as all our friends and the pubs we drink in are all up in Glasgow, so between that and work I feel like I'm always just travelling back and forth.

Glad you're enjoying it!

It is great to finally met someone on here from Helensburgh!  So you haven't found your local favorites yet?  I do like hoping the train to Glasgow for a good shopping trip and pub crawl, but we love the small town feel of H'burgh and its pubs.  (Although there are only a few Americans in town so we stand out a wee bit!)

I do think it's a pretty place and the people are nice, but our social life is in Glasgow, and I expect it's going to remain that way.  My partner has lived in Helensburgh all his life and has basically gone up to Glasgow every weekend since he was a teenager (he's 57 now!).  We drink real ale and maybe are a bit fussy about our beer... the cask ales they get in the Helensburgh pubs just aren't the ones that we and our group of friends enjoy.  But we do keep our eyes open for any changes on that front, and so we live in hope!  :)

Yeah, The Ashton is the only one I know that has real ales, but its quite a small 'lil local pub.  (They were voted "real Ale Pub" of the year in 2014.)
If you ever want to get out for a coffee, tea, lunch, a drink, go for a walk or browse the shops let me know!

The Ashton, the Henry Bell and the Commodore all serve cask ale, but... they just never seem to get the ones we prefer, no matter how often we talk to them about it.  We got the shock of our lives when we held the purvey for my SILs funeral at the Commodore and found out that not only by chance was Hopback Summer Lightning on, but it was in really good condition and tasted lovely!  First time we'd ever had an ale in good condition in the Commodore... ugh... we were in to see our friend's band a couple of Fridays ago and the Bitter & Twisted was completely vile, bottom-of-the-barrel sludge, and the useless guy on the bar refused to replace it... until several other people complained.  They don't seem to understand that you can't keep it on indefinitely... if you don't sell it in 3 or 4 days once it's tapped, it goes off, and you just can't keep serving it.

Sliding into Beer Geek mode (and not for the first time today, unfortunately!)... better keep the heid!  ;)

Talk to Euan at the Ashton, he is the owner and I'm sure would do his best to try to get in the ales you like.
