Boston to London!
« on: April 14, 2015, 03:32:59 PM »
Hi all,

As the subject says, I'm going from New England to old England. :)  Target date: September 2015.

I'm going on a fiancee visa (we met in late 2012) and even though it's still five months away, I'm already a bit frantic.  I have to get rid of everything I don't want to pay to ship to the UK because I'm not putting anything into storage, I need to sort out my investments so I don't get screwed and figure out how best to position myself tax-wise, not to mention formally giving notice at my job and training my replacement!

I'm going to miss baseball and hockey.  But I get rugby and cricket in their place.  And I've already got a pretty decent handle on who's who in the Premier League (thank you NBCSN!)

Well if you hurry you can beat next winter. As you know, London isn't balmy....but it must be an improvement.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I'm currently listening to WBZ radio online.. There are ways to get your Boston/Mass/New England fix :)

Welcome to the forum :)

actually quite a decent amount of baseball over here, as BT TV(cable provider) do free ESPN UK which just re-broadcasts all ESPN baseball broadcasts (sunday night baseball, weds night bball, etc) and then also do regional broadcasts that ESPN USA don't get.

I watched a NESN broadcast of a sox game on ESPN UK last week.

You won't get hockey. In fact, the default interpretation of just the word "hockey" by the english is field hockey.

Welcome to UK-Y and a new adventure in your life!

I'm going to miss baseball and hockey.

We bought a Mobie Dazzle Amlogic Streaming HD TV Box Player and it livestreams CBC. Hockey all the time, if I wanted it.  ;)

is that one of those XBMC boxes? (like android's version of Apple TV) I have a Matricom G-Box, and it is the #1 best selling XBMC on amazon and very highly rated, but it is a nightmare.

Yes. Total nightmare for sure, but great for watching CBC to keep on top of the Canadian election. We got a little keyboard, which helps.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Hi :)  I am in Mass as well, also with a target date of Sept 2015 to move to the UK.  My husband and I have been married since 2001, but have decided to move over there too.
Met in 1999 online
Married in 2002 on US Visa
Applied for UK Visa May 2015
Waiting dramatically for a response.
Plan to move to the UK Early Autumn 2015
