Hi There! Headed for Kent this summer.

Hi - My name is Barbara, and I have been married to my husband Clive for just over 20 years now.  We have lived that entire time in the US.  We have decided to move over to England to be closer to Clive's family now.  We regularly visit.  Most of his family lives in Northumberland, however his brother lives in Kent.  And Clive has been offered a very good position in a bio-med company in Kent. 
Our daughter will be leaving the US too, as she is graduating HS and attending Strathclyde University up in Glasgow.  She is a Dual Citizen, and has spent as much time in Britain as the US, so she will have a great time.
I am looking forward to getting there, but not moving which I loathe.  We are also bringing our two furkids, mini-schnauzers.  We will be an empty next for the first time in a long time, but it will be an adventure for us.  We both love to travel and I am the keeper of the family tree.  So, I expect to keep busy.  And my lovely sister-in-law will be right around the corner.  So, hello to all and I will probably be asking loads of questions.  Thanks!

Welcome and good luck on the move! Sounds like you've got all your ducks in a row for visa requirements.

I hope so.  I read the UK Visa and Immigration Web Page, and told my husband he had to figure it out.  Can we just go from A to B, not A to J then M and then B.  It just cracks me up   I mean if we can stay married to one another for 20 years here, and still be in love, I think we got it.  It's just proving it, and all the bits of paper and fees.  I still shudder at what we went through when Clive went for his green card.  It was tough.  I hate going through Heathrow.  They are so mean there.  I love Manchester and Newcastle.  And Glasgow is great too.  For Immigration.  Everyone is nice and human. Heathrow is very intimidating to me.  I saw one of their agents absolutely terrorize a Polish young man a couple of years ago.  He was sobbing.  I just wanted to give him a big hug.  And the agent was a woman.  Oh well, there are mean people everywhere in the world.  I just hope Karma works.
