35 hours free childcare from goverment?
« on: July 13, 2015, 05:03:20 PM »
Where do I find information on this or what it is officially called?
I hear conservatives want to pass this starting in 2016 for three year olds? Did this pass? Is this for low income families only? Must one meet certain income requirements?

Just trying to find the information. Thanks!

Currently it is 15 hours free childcare for kids after their 3rd birthday (start date of funding depends on birthday).

This is supposed to raise to 30 hours per week starting in January 2017 if both parents are working.

thanks KFdancer! So my son will be 2 on September 13 this year.

So if I am reading that correctly, January of 2017 he would qualify for the 15 (or 35) hours per week of free daycare, regardless of our combined income? regardless where he attends daycare?

Oh. So the .gov website says "all children", but when I put the postal code in...that doesn't seem to be the case :(

Yes, your assumptions are correct (though 30 hours in 2017, not 35).  What you've looked at is funding starting at the age of 2.  That you aren't eligible for (unlikely anyways).
