CRBA
« on: May 06, 2015, 08:11:08 AM »
Hello everyone..things have improved slightly..for one im actually better controlled at my gambling now so thats a plus..my depression still comes and goes but that's a given..other than that nothing has changed much.but put all that aside because id rather not get into that i'm wondering how to go about getting my daughter who is going to be 7 years old in a month a CRBA since the US embassy in London doesnt accept applications for children who are over 5( which doesnt make any sense since im sure all other us embassys do accept them) so any advice would be appreciated.

Who told you they don't accept applications for children under 5?  I ask because their website says you can apply until the child is 18:

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/acs/passports/robirth4.html

And at the bottom of this page it says the same thing:

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/acs/passports/citizenship.html

it says it under steps to applyfor a cbra. click cbra and this shows up...

Completed Application for a Social Security Number - Form SS 5, . Please note that the Embassy in London can only accept this form if the applicant is under the age of 5 and is also applying for a full validity passport.

How annoying that is.  I'd call/email and ask what you're supposed to do.  Hard to say whether they'd be cool about it or want you to go to Edinburgh or somewhere.  Sorry I don't have a better answer.

I think they are talking about the SSC application form, not the CRBA?
