Accommodation details.. Am I providing enough info?
« on: July 19, 2015, 05:50:45 PM »
Hello! Is the assured short hold tenancy agreement enough for proof of accommodation? It is signed by both my husband and the landlord. or do I need another piece of information? I've read in previous threads that an actual letter from the landlord stating we are given permission to live there is required too.
Thanks again in advance for your help!

You do need a letter from the landlord as well because your name is not on the tenancy agreement.

The tenancy agreement only shows that the landlord has given your husband permission to live in the property and not you as well - and the whole point of the accommodation requirement is that you (the visa applicant) has permission to live in the property too.

If your name was on the tenancy agreement too, you wouldn't need a letter.

So, you need to send:

- the original tenancy agreement signed by your husband and the landlord
- a signed letter from the landlord giving you permission to live in the property with your husband

Okay. So it can't be a copy of the tenancy agreement?

If it's a copy, it should be notarised.

Everything you send should be the original document, or if you can't get the original, a notarised/certified copy.

Ksand, does this sound okay for landlords letter?
Dear Entry Clearance Officer I, Alan Hirst, the landlord of (husbands address) hereby give permission for Jane doe, wife of the tenant, Jane doe of the said premises, to live there for the duration of the tenancy, which is a rolling tenancy of 2 months extendable till August 2015.
 Yours sincerely,
Landlord

The "rolling tenancy" will have to be adjusted to whatever ours is.. But this is what I found online ...
