Biometrics Card
« on: August 02, 2015, 10:52:41 PM »
When I applied for my first spousal visa 2 1/2 years ago, I attended an appointment in the US, where my biometric info was taken. I was then given the visa, but never told to apply for a biometric ID card (the pink and blue one with your photo on it) when I settled in the UK. In the last 2 1/2 years, I have left and re-entered the UK without any problems or mention of the card.

Now that I am applying to renew my spousal visa, I am being asked to supply my biometrics card, but I don't have one. Am I correct in thinking that this extension will include a biometrics card this time around and that I did not need one before, or did I make a mistake?

Yes, you are correct.

You are not supposed to have a BRP card yet because your spousal visa is a sticker in your passport and at the time you applied, BRPs were only issued for visas applied for in the UK.

When you apply for FLR(M) you will be issued with your first BRP card and there will be no sticker in your passport.

So, on the application where it asks if you have a Biometrics Residence Card, you tick 'no' and skip to the question that it tells you to go to.

For the question about having had biometrics done for a visa application in the past, you give the date of your biometrics appointment for the spousal visa, the address of the USCIS center where you gave biometrics and the address of the consulate you mailed the application to (either NYC or Sheffield depending on when you applied).
