Re-opening a closed Barclay's account
« on: August 17, 2015, 09:26:03 PM »
Has anyone reopened a closed account before? I lived in the UK from 2007-2009 and had an account with Barclay's. It was closed due to inactivity sometime in 2013 and I have a letter from the bank. Will it be as simple as turning up with the letter, my ID and visa paperwork to reopen this account? I cannot get the website to allow me to ask a question from the US to the UK side of things.

Thanks for any advice! :)

In case anyone needs an answer to this question in the future. You just need your old account number and passport. It is easier to bank with someone you've already been with as the threshold for opening is lower. Otherwise I would have needed two forms of ID, a letter of employment, housing already set up (permanent address), and a few other things before I could try to open. This would have been difficult as I currently am in temporary accommodations, am trying to get my phone unlocked, etc.
