Finding a UK job while in the US
« on: September 15, 2015, 06:13:38 PM »
I'm a UK citizen in the US. Ideally want to secure a job before moving over,  so that I don't have to ship my wife back home acter a few months to get the spouse visa. It would be more clean cut to arrange it all in advance.

Question is - do you think many people find jobs before leaving? How hot are UK employers on making job offers based on Skype interviews. Hardly likely I think.

Also,  it just takes a threshold job offer to get the visa right? What if I change jobs as soon as I'm there.

It's going to depend on your profession how successful you are, your specialisation, and how saturated the market is.  Willingness to fly over in later stages of interviews helps.  Though I have hired people over Skype and have no qualms about it.

You can quit the job immediately.   ;D  But you will have to requalify after 30 months for the visa renewal.  If you don't qualify, your wife would be put on a 10 year path versus a 5 year path.
