Considering a Move to the UK
« on: September 21, 2015, 06:46:17 PM »
Hello all from balmy South Carolina!

My hubby and I are contemplating a move to the UK some time in the near future. We don't have a firm date yet as we are still calculating costs and how long that it might take for us save up the needed funds. I'm a long time anglophile who has family in southwest England. My hubby was not that big on the idea of a move until we visited a couple of weeks ago. I think he was finally able to visualize what living there would be like. He rides a Triumph motorcycle so he was pleased to see how motorcycle friendly the UK is. We'll be packing his bike and our four cats if we make the move.

I'm definitely looking to secure a job beforehand, and will be looking in the heritage sector. My hubby may end up going back to school as he never finished his undergrad. We're not sure how long we intend to stay in the UK. Well I would stay indefinitely, but hubby is concerned about his parents who are somewhat older than my own.

Anyhoo, too much information. I just wanted to say "hi" and I'm looking forward to learning lots of stuff from you all.

Welcome.  A visa will be your biggest obstacle.  Unless you already hold UK citizenship?
