Disneyland Paris

Hello,
We are thinking of spending Christmas at Disneyland Paris.  Has anyone else been there?  If so, what did you think?  I am thinking of going by plane, though the Eurostar is an option as well.

Thanks for any info ;D

It got mentioned a few times in the following thread, just so you have a starting point.
I've never been myself - but I've never had any desire to do any sort of disney land whatsoever.
When the time comes and my kids beg me to take them, I'm *all* for hiring out an uncle or cousin to take them!!!
The Paris one might be fun though, as it is smaller, and... well... in PARIS!

I have a seven year old who has put in a request for a Disney Christmas, I am sure my 1 year old will like all the lights.  I am up for the idea since I do like Disney and it is a great chance to spend some time in Paris.

Depending on where you live there are plenty of coach tour companies running trips to Disney Paris check out your local travel agent.Getting picked up locally and dropped off at the end of your break may be a better option than making your own way there.
Leger Holidays do a 4 or 5 day trip but at the moment they are showing the 2005 breaks on their site.

We had a fantastic time at Disneyland Paris.  It's small enough that you can do loads in a day or two.  We went with three kids (2,9,10) and then the next year(3,10,11).  Really good fun.  There's actually a really good book Take the Kids to Paris/Disneyland Paris that's worth buying.

We took the 2 girls (age 1 and 3); they loved it.  It is smaller (more like Disneyland, CA).  We stayed at a Disney property so it was easy to get back to the hotel.  Our room actually looked out at the park - so we got to watch all the fireworks from our hotel room!

Enjoy your trip!

We went a couple of years ago and it was great!  I moved here from Orlando, so my co-workers thought I would be really critical of Disneyland Paris.  On the contrary, it was small enough to do loads in the 3 days were were there.  We were close enough to our hotel (we stayed at a Disney hotel) to get back to the hotel for a rest if needed.  It was great!

It is called Disneyland Paris - but it is VERY removed from proper "Paris".  There is a train station right on the property that will take you into Paris.  I got a definite "American" feel to the whole resort area and none of the "Parisian" feel of it.

We didn't bother going into Paris itself as there was plenty for the kids to do at the parks.  If we ever do venture to Paris - it would be on our own.

We rented costumes for ourselves (Indians) and bought the boys cowboy costumes...mainly for the Wild West Show...it was great!! After the show kids were lining up to get my husbands autograph - they thought he was a character.  Since we stayed at the Cheyenne we also walked around the resort and kids (other kids as well as ours) LOVED it.  Only one little girl asked for my autograph   :\\\'(  Although I was the only blonde Indian EVER (my wig wouldn't fit over my head!!).

Anyhow...enjoy yourself...!

edited to add: we rented the costumes before we went- in Bristol. As far as I know there is no place to rent costumes once you get there...

I've "seen" Disney in Florida and California and not been tempted by Paris - somehow it's felt too urbain and too close to home (and perhaps the children are now really too old to be my excuse). After reading your post, Jacky, I might be tempted to go there at some appropriate time;  who knows - I might be a Grandad in a few years ....

We love it! (but we are the type to stay up all night totally excited when we know we are going to Disneyland the next day too)

We actually met my MIL and aunt there one year. It was such a great, relaxing way to visit with relatives. We stayed at one of the Disneyland hotels and took things at the most relaxed pace ever. Went to the park when we felt like it, took the kids swimming and playing on waterslides, there was a petting zoo. We didn't feel like we had to rush to fit things in, MIL and I went into Paris one day while hubby and son hung out in the park and aunt and daughter sat around at the pool.  The accomodation was fine, the food top notch. Very surprising considering we were at Disneyland LOL.

We always sign up for things like breakfast with Characters, cause I am a total sucker, but they are a lot of fun. This kids love it as well.

Another reccomendation -my number one favourite place to eat in the world is the Blue Bayou. It's great in California, but even better in Paris cause the food is superior. I think they call it the Blue Lagoon there. Make reservations in advance - first thing in the morning, if fills up fast. Request a table on the water :) The best resturant in the park though is probably Walts on Main Street, but Blue bayou (lagoon, whatever) beats it hands down for the atmosphere :)

Disneyland at anytime is fun (IMO) Disney at Christmas time is special. They really do go all out for Christmas. Expect to see snow falling on Main Street, characters dressed in their Christmas Parade. I even heard a rumour that Cats would be playing over the Christmas season this year.  I highly recommend Disneyland at Christmas.
