Taxes when I return
« on: October 01, 2015, 11:30:43 AM »
I'm returning to the US after over 20 years of living abroad. In the past I always claimed I was a bona fide resident for an entire tax year and used form 2555ez.

I'll be returning in November. Can I still use form 2555ez to claim exemption as a bona fide resident abroad for part of a year?

Similarly with the health care exemption? form 8965. Do I just note I'm exempt from Jan-Oct ?

I'm in the process of transferring most of my cash assets so that I won't have to file fbars any more. Anything else I should be aware of ?

Thanks.
Robert

You might want some bonus days if you use the PPT and count them right.

You might - more logically - revoke section 911 and figure out some excess foreign tax credits to carry forward instead.
