I'm happily employed at a company I love but the opportunity has come up for me to take on some other work that would be freelance projects and for those, I'd need to be set up as self-employed.
How complicated is it to file US taxes as self-employed when the work is done in the UK? Is it something an average person could do on their own or would it need an accountant familiar with US tax laws to complete?
I know setting myself up as self-employed is a whole other ball of wax. I'd be keen to hear suggestions on how to go about that, but if the US tax reporting would be too complicated, I'd be happy to limit my work to the non-self-employed work I'm doing now.
Thanks in advance!
