Is it legal to search for a job while in the UK on a visitors Visa?

Hello!  I'll be traveling to the UK as a visitor for 3-6 months.  I want to know if it's legal for me to contact recruiting agencies for job opportunities while I'm there.  I won't perform any work until I'm legal, but I want to know if it's legal to search for opportunities while I'm there.  Thanks!

It is, but make sure you know the rules so if questioned at the border, they feel confident you won't try to stay in the UK without a visa if you find work.
