probably already a thread for this, but i'm a lazy git

This year my mother has offered to take my tax forms to someone that does her taxes for her, she has all the info she needs to get it done once my w2's come in, question I have tho is, do I file married and claim my husband as a dependant or a working partner (alien or something????) so that he doesn't dent my return basically....because i get earned income credit for my son....also, because by this time next year we will have a little dual citizen sweetie with us as well, will i need a SSN# etc in place as well to claim him/her?? or even be able to claim the baby? This I guess was something I wasn't overly worried about, but my mother had asked me what I wanted or could claim this year and next and how to go about it to get the max amount of a return back, with us struggling as much as we are, without being illegal about it, I guess finding out and doing what I can is the best thing really...
hubby doesn't have a SSN# hasn't ever needed one...baby will have to have one from what I hear due to travel passport etc....so what about when I file my taxes? should be like any of my other dependants right? Yes we are going to file seperately on my taxes simply because he doesn't contribute to my income really (£9000/yr) and I'm £17000/yr.....hmmm
what can and can't we do?? anyone?

you would file married filing separately and but NRA for hubby's SSN.  You cannot claim your husband as a dependent.  You will need a SSN for your baby to claim him/her.
