I replied to your other thread about visa options just now
.
It's not all that easy to get to the US either (4 years ago, before they tightened the requirements for UK visas, it was much easier to get a UK visa than a US one)- as well as being married, there are income requirements to meet and then the visa process is long and drawn out, involving interviews and medical exams... and it takes about 8-10 months from application for the visa to be approved.
The UK visa application process is much faster and only involves sending the application by post - no interviews or medicals - and if you can afford priority processing the visa can be processed in as little as 1-2 weeks (sometimes even 1-2 days). However, the requirements are a bit stricter for a UK marriage or spousal visa and the visas are more expensive.
Basically though, for her to qualify for a UK settlement (marriage/spousal) visa, you just need either be getting married within 6 months or already married, and you need to meet 3 main requirements:
- genuine relationship
- you meet the minimum income threshold
- you have suitable accommodation to live in in the UK
