Another Forum Newbie! (Been here 4 years now)
« on: April 01, 2016, 04:24:18 PM »
I've just stumbled across UK Yankee (amazingly enough) while I was searching for a Chicken Noodle Soup recipe as I'm home with a bad flu and chest infection and missing the comforts of the US!

Haha. Been here in the UK for the last 4 years and wouldn't change a thing. I moved all over the place and finally settled into Shropshire, a gorgeous county on the map where most people say there isn't much to do, pretty quiet and no cities? My sort of living.

It's a pleasure to meet you guys! I'm an illustrator living here and use the name Yankee Doodles as my screen name because it was a joke among my art friends. I'm in my early 30s now and totally expect to live here for the rest of my life. Hopefully next year I'll finally apply for citizenship, but what an expensive process this has been. Hah.

We have two dogs (German Shepherds) and 4 rats so far (all female, very clean, very loving)! I can't have any more children, I have one gorgeous boy, so we opted for pets instead to feed my nesting itch.

Oh well! Happy to say I found my chicken noodle information so time to get the other half to Tesco and get me ingredients. Cheers guys!

I have one cat (male, chronic halitosis, disinterested)
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Welcome!

I love Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa's) recipe for chicken soup.  You can add noodles (she recommends matzo balls).  It's not a quick recipe but it is AMAZING.

Hiya Yankee Doodles and welcome,

I've been here for nearly 5 years and have just applied for citizenship. We are living in West Yorkshire and I love it here as well. I have an adult stepson and a Westie, Lola. :)
British Citizenship approval: May 2016
Ceremony: July 2016

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.
