I’ve been looking for a locally available version of grits for a few years and finally found something that is exactly right!
Unfortunately, I don't know how lucky you'll be finding the same thing as I found it tucked away in the corner shelf of my local Mediterranean supermarket. It costs less than a fiver for a kilo. Check your local Romanian store.
I took it home and boiled 1 cup corn meal in 3 cups water and added lots of salt, pepper and butter. Almost the best grits I've ever had.
