Hi from a Brit who has recently returned to the UK

I am a British person - I hope you wont hold that against me lol - who has recently returned from living in Australia for 8 years and thought I would join and maybe assist people with their planned moves to the UK or people with questions about the UK.

I now live in Windsor with my wife, but I am from the North East of England originally and have spent 13 years living in the Midlands in Leicester, so have a good knowledge of the UK as a whole.

Where in Australia?

We were in Sydney for 6 months when we first moved to Australia, then 7 and half years in Mandurah near Perth. Moved back to the UK in March

From Wikipedia:

You know when 86F is described as "relief"......

And when it is 42 and all the doctor does is cools it to 40c!

Also, it doesn't mention that the doctor will chase you off the beach because it then acts as a sand blaster. Can also force you to close all the windows and doors at home to stop the dust being blown in.

Do you miss that sort of heat?

I am from Florida and it can hit say 37c for months on end......I hated it (though some here speak fondly of it). 

Hated it. Every year I dreaded summer coming more and more. It was also particularly bad for me at work as I am a geologist in mining and in the bottom of a pit in summer in some places it can reach 65c. I have seen people suffer serious burns from just touching a car!

I far prefer the UK weather. I love all the UK seasons - the autumn with leaves changing colour, the winter with the dark nights but a good excuse to sit in the pub with a roaring fire. Spring with the flowers coming out.

Though I am a natural cold climate person - I have worked in extreme cold such as the arctic and loved that.
