Hey there. I am hearing that a lot of people don't get emails. Mine was received and payed priority on July 22. July 26 got an email saying it was received. It can take some time ... From what I am reading in these forums , even priority can take up to a month at this time of year. :(

Its frustrating that after 8 working days and still no emails at all...im guessing some people do not even get emails at all though and its a busy time of year so could be taking longer....everything in the uk moves so slow!

I am with you there. It is frustrating. I for one did not realize how swamped they would be at this time of year. We gotta just try and be patient ! Easier said than done.

If you were moving to the US it would take around 8 months.  Coming this way is much quicker.

Send my priority parcel out 29 June.  Received in Sheffield 1 July.  Never had any emails whatsoever.  Began haunting the UPS tracking site.

On 21 July UPS showed movement.  Approval arrived 25 July.

Got an email from Sheffield saying decision had been made.  Wanna guess what date that email came?  Yes---25 July!

Received their email exact day parcel arrived.

I know how hard it is to wait.  I know it's nerve wracking.  I know you're panicking.

You know parcel was received.  Eventually they will get to you.  Don't email them---it's useless.  Don't call them--it's a waste of time, breath, & most important---MONEY cuz they charge to tell you they can't find anything.

Best advice--Haunt the UPS tracking site.  Check it everyday for movement (except weekends).  You may end up like me & find out there first.

Good Luck!

It is true, everything does tend to go more slowly here! My best suggestion is take it as a learning experience for what it will be like to live here! Everything takes more time than you would think. So patience really is useful. I remember how frustratingly slow it was, I too was chomping at the bit and annoyed at UKVI for the delay.

My advice from experience?
Distract yourself! Spend as much time doing things in the US that you won't get to do once you move. Spend time with friends and family, eat at your favourite restaurants, watch the TV shows that AREN'T on UK tv or UK netflix. (seriously, if you didn't already know, UK netflix blows compared to the US). You'll be missing all of that before you know it from the UK. Video chat is awesome, but there is nothing like being able to spend time with your favourite people in person.

And as larrabee said, if you were going the other way it would be up to a year long process, seriously. That was part of the reason we chose for me (USC) to move to the UK. Only a small part though.

This advice only works if you used VFS global for shipping. I didn't, because it was MUCH cheaper for me to post it myself. My return shipping was about $75, they used the shipping option that takes 1-5 days rather than the 1-3 days.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.
