NHS Surcharge and Biometrics Questions
« on: August 28, 2016, 09:39:54 PM »
Hi all,

My daughter and I are preparing to apply for our second set of FLR M visas within the UK. Am I correct to assume we both need to pay the surcharge or just myself? My daughter is 11 and a US citizen.

Also, how do we go about obtaining our biometrics here? I ask because our first set of visas we applied for were done so in the US and I'm unsure of the timeline here.

Many thanks!  :)

I believe if your daughter is under 16 you won't need to pay the IHS for her, but you will need to pay it for you (£500). If you go on the IHS webpages you can check whether she needs to pay too (there's a short questionnaire).

For the biometrics, it depends on how you apply:

- If you apply in person, your biometrics will be taken at the premium appointment.

- if you apply by post, after you have mailed in your applications, you will be sent a letter in the post inviting you to give biometrics at a post office. Once you have done them, they will be transmitted electronically to UKVI and then they will continue to process your applications.

Just to add:

To find a post office location where you can give biometrics near you:

http://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder
Tick Home Office Biometric Enrolment.

Ah, looks like I might have been wrong about your daughter not having to pay. Apparently there's a glitch on the website or something.
