Priority Application Service/Postal Help
« on: October 20, 2016, 12:55:45 AM »
Me again - I have paid for the priority application service for my spouse visa application. Do I now just print off the confirmation to submit inside the application pack and simply write "priority service" on the envelope?

Also what is the best recommendation for postage? I think I've seen somewhere that UPS is the one?

So nearly there...

Yes, if you're applying for a spousal visa for the U.K. and you purchased priority processing, you should have had a button to push at the end of that transaction to print out the confirmation. This isn't exactly the email receipt but something you have to retrieve from your (I'm assuming VFS) 'account.'  VFS Global's website states that you *must* write, "Settlement Priority Service" in big letters on both sides of the outermost envelope. For good measure I also wrote it on the inside of my packaged up paper stacks.

I purchased my shipping from VFS because I heard from a few people that doing the round trip would be cheaper. My papers got there in a little over 24 hours so I have no complaints. When you purchase this service from VFS Global they will email you the airway bills which you tape to the front of your envelopes and then all you do is literally drop them off at UPS.

Hope this helps.  :)

The VFS courier service is on the same webpage as the priority processing service - you purchase them in the same way:
https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/user_pay_services.html

It costs $141 for just the return courier service (so you ship it to Sheffield yourself using UPS or DHL) and $227 for the round trip courier service.

All the instructions for both the shipping service and the settlement priority service are on that page.

Oh, and just to check that you purchased the correct priority service?

For a spousal visa processed in Sheffield, you need the Settlement Priority Service for $576.

If you only paid $192, that's the wrong service as that one is for all applications except settlement visa applications.

Ooooo, it's cheaper now that the pound has tanked!  That's a bit of good news I guess.   :)

I guess I didn't realize that it coincided with the pound. :)  For a moment I worried because when I purchased it two weeks ago it was $612 so I thought, "Oh goodness, did I buy the wrong service?"

The actual charge is set in UK pounds and then converted to local currency for each country. The exchange rate used is set by UKVI every few months, so it doesn't always match the value of the pound... but I guess they had to do a recent change due to the falling pound.

The cost of all visas and visa services in pounds (for 2016/2017) is listed here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/510922/Fees_Table_for_website_2016-17_v0.2.pdf

- Settlement Priority Service for 2016/17 is £450 (currently $576, previously $612)
- Priority Service for 2016/17 is £150 (currently $192)
(listed at the bottom of page 1)
