I appreciate that, and I tend to prefer to err on the side of providing more info vs. less. But I also appreciate that there is such thing as "too much"...and in any event our scenario is cut and dry, so I think a happy medium will work. I will send a post to the group with a summary of all our docs before sending off the visa so would appreciate everyone's input.

PS, while this thread's got everyone's attention... :-)

We lived in the UK before (2008-2009), but I was there under a work permit (this was before I registered as a British citizen per my British mother). This is why I already have a National Insurance number.

However, for the purposes of settling in the UK (now that I'm a British citizen), I am assuming that the above is irrelevant...because it happened before I was a British citizen it has no bearing on what I'm now requesting.

But you know what they say about assuming...I can submit the paperwork for my work permit, or other pertinent details, if you think it might raise any red flags?

It won't be a problem but because it's an unusual situation, I think it would be a good idea to include an explanation in your letter and to provide the visa paperwork with the application.
