Should I use the Priority Service for a 2nd visa application?
« on: November 07, 2016, 02:11:29 AM »
Hello everyone,

This site has been a big help!

Question: Has anyone's first application been rejected and is applying for the second time using the priority service through VFSglobal?

I see that it states that if we were rejected the first time it might still be a delay with or without the priority service. It's so much money to just throw away if it wouldn't make a difference either way. They can't guarantee the service, but I am so tempted to do it since we failed the first time.

What do you guys think I should do?

P.s. The first application was declined because we didn't realize it had to be process from America so we made a priority service application in the U.K. while I was visiting. Silly us, no refund for not following directions :(

Thanks for any help or opinion.

Priority simply gets your application put to the back of the priority line.  Non-priority means it gets put all the way to the back of the line.  So if you pay priority, your application WILL be opened earlier. Yes, it will take a bit longer to assess than a straight forward application but could still be processed quicker.

The summer backlog has finally been cleared (was about a 4.5-5 month wait for non-priority).  Currently priority on straight forward applications is taking about 2 days.  We haven't had anyone apply recently non-priority due to the backlog.  I imagine it's back to being about 2 weeks maximum.

Things will slow down again the closer we get to Christmas.  So it does depend a bit on when you are applying and when you hope to relocate to the UK.

I know you were in the UK for a decent period of time before.  Did you use the NHS?  If so, did you pay for any treatment?

I would say if you need it in a hurry then do what ever you need to do to get it faster.  If time isnt an issue i would just send it in normally.  My wife just got hers last week and the turn around was 4 days.

I thought you were on a Tier 2 visa?  If so, it's a completely different visa and process.

But priority is very fast for settlement visas at the moment as well.   :)

Thanks for the feed back everyone.

@KFDANCER

I never got sick there badly enough to have to go the to the doctors luckily, but I did get a cold, but I was able to take care of that myself. My mother in law did say though that if I was sick they were obligated to treat me.

But an update, we decided to pay for priority and some how the system did acknowledge the transaction. BUT the money was taken out right away. I'm having the worst luck, and it's impossible to get a customer service number for vfsglobal. What a disaster.

Great news that you didn't use the NHS.  It wouldn't have been a problem to use, you just would have needed to get a bill and receipt for payment to not have issues with your visa application.   :)

Not sure I understand the problem.  If the transaction went through, the fee SHOULD have been taken...

Unless it's a typo and it's supposed to say 'did NOT acknowledge the transaction'?

Could easily be.  I certainly make typos!

 :-X

Guys, Vfs global are the hardest people to get a hold off! There is no customer service number. I don't think they want to be found!! We double checked our bank account the money is definitely been taken. I think there is a glitch in the system cause it keeps saying a balance due of $567. I wish I can see what the receipt is suppose to look like so I'll know if this paper that I have will work.

Hope everyone's monday isn't as insane as mine!!!   :-X :-X

Thanks

It often takes several hours for the confirmation to come through.  Same if you purchase the shipping labels with them.  Don't panic!

Do check your junk folder though.
