A glimmer of light
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:03:13 AM »
Well there is a hint of hope in the job hunting! It is only a hint but--- I need that hint since I have given myself until the start of january's term to find a teaching assistant job before I go look for "any job" to help with finances.

Tuesday I have an appointment to visit a school that is hiring-- yes it is just to visit..but I feel anytime I can get my foot in the door to chat with people in person it is better than just sending off an application!

Now the even better glimmer-- I called about a job on friday, talked to the lady on the phone a bit and she gave me the usual, I'll send an application to you. Well when the application arrived today---- There is an interview scheduled for me!!! Before the interview is also some practical time scheduled in the classroom-- which is icing on the cake it gives me a chance to show that I really do know what I am doing even if I don't have the usual UK qualifications! So that interview is Monday the 13th...wouldnt it be a wonderful christmas to have a job offer!?!?!??

Of course I am playing the-- don't get your hopes up game...but wanting to have some hopes at the same time! keep your fingers crossed for me please! and if you know anyone in Chester or cuddington who work in Nursery Schools let me know :))

A smiling Helena

Yes, lots of luck. I know how hard the job hunt is!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Helena, you'll do fine. And if you're going to be in a classroom and the kids are drawn to you like a magnet, you have it made in the shade. Good luck!

Just got a call for another interview! This is just part time 2 evenings a week...but working with kids and would give me some experience in this country so it would be worth it! Maybe that glimmer is shining a bit more!

Thanks for everyone's support!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts!

Well I had the interview for the part time evening job last week and they unofficially offered it to me. They had one more interview but they were looking for two people, one of them as a supervisor and thought I sounded perfect for the supervisor role. They were having a committee meeting yesterday and are supposed to call today with further details.

The interview today seemed to go well. The interview was with the Nursery teacher, she said she had to share the information with the head office and couldn't make any decisions on her own. Will just have to see how that turns out.

I have two more interviews scheduled though, another part time one-- just a couple hours every two weeks. And a full time one however; that interview isn't til January 17-- so have a bit of a wait. I have to admit that job appeals to me most, it is a boys school for children with emotional and behavioral difficulties. It is a field I have a lot of experience in and enjoy.

Anyway, it seems things are definately looking up-- we will just see where the chips fall; hopefully by the end of January I will be settled in someplace!!

Thanks again for all your support!

Helena
