US customs and baked goods with dried fruit as an ingredient
« on: December 04, 2016, 05:47:25 PM »
We're in Italy at the moment and will be travelling to the US for the holidays.

I'm thinking of bringing some pandolce or panettone back to the US for family.

They both have dried and candied fruit in them. Would they pass US customs (obviously I'll be declaring whatever I bring but I don't want to carry it all that way just to have it taken from me)?

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I've seen both commercially-made pandolce/panettone (in a box in supermarkets) and bakery-style loose loaves (in a plain plastic bag with the bakery's sticker on it).

Also, we'll be flying through Heathrow, but our connection is in the same terminal, so I don't think we'll go through UK customs at all.
