Nan -- your post reads like an outline for a best-seller.  Have you considered who would play you in the film version?   

Well, for my younger years I'd say Dolly Parton, since we'd have sounded similar, but there are a couple of things we definitely do not have in common.   

So then I'd default to Martin Freeman, since he has the range. But he's way too short.
So.... hmmmmm.....

When I'm stressing I tend to run on at the keyboard. (As if you couldn't tell.) The application is sitting at a UPS warehouse in Kentucky, since it's a holiday, and is due to be delivered by 10:30am tomorrow to New York. I hope all the scuttlebutt I'm hearing about EU family permits being turned around quickly is true - the kid is on pins and needles, and I'm not much better.
