Do You Go in the EU Passengers Line at the Airport?

Just curious which line everybody goes in with their US spouse?

Currently, we go in the non-EU line together but interested to hear if people go in the EU line together with your spouse being non-EU?

I ask because we had a very bad experience at Liverpool airport with a stupid supervisor who assigned all four border officers to EU first with non-stop EU passengers flooding in. She refused to let the officers see the HUGE amount of ALL 7 people in the non-EU line until EU were dealt with. I argued and really had to control myself before I threw by phone at her face and dragged her onto the tarmac and tied her to the landing gear of a 747 

Also, how about the other way? Do you go in the non-US citizen line in America together?

You should be able to go through the UK/EU line together in the UK (because you're a UK citizen) and the US line together in the US (because she is a US citizen), but it's worth checking with the staff in the passport area to see which one they want you to go through.

So long as your wife is traveling with you, she can use the EU line (or with baby after she has the baby).  She just can't go through the EU line if you aren't there.

Same when you go to the US.  You can go through the US line if with her, though the US allows everyone and their brother to use the US line now, so not much benefit there.  Usually a baby gets you to the front of the line.   

I don't bother asking, as the officers at the desk on both sides have said this is fine.  The person directing traffic doesn't always know.

When I ask the people just always seem to 'panic' and play it safe and tell us to go the non-EU/non-US lines.

Gonna try the EU/US lines in future to see what reaction we get. And, as you said KFDancer, once my wife has the baby we'll be 2/3 US/EU so more reason to go through the resident's lines.

Went through the U.K. /E.U. line with my U.K. husband while clearing immigration in Dublin and got told off by the officer. He said I should have gone through the non-U.K/E.U.

On the way through from Dublin to the USA, we both went through the USA line and that was fine.

I wonder if there is an official answer or if it's always at the officers discretion.

I only do EU line if I'm traveling with my husband or child - if I'm entering the UK.  All other countries, I use the "other passports" line.
