Here! Finally! Now Marriage!!!

I'm here finally.  After arguing and begging and then pleaing with the consulate in New York I finally got my visa clearance to come back to my fiance and my life here in Scotland.

Now we have to get married before May 15, 2005, when my clearance expires.  Our actual wedding date isn't until July 23, 2005.  (Obviously the clearance officer didn't look too closely at our paperwork, or they may have taken notice of that!)

I understand I can apply for an extention on my visa clearance.  Has anyone done this? How successful was it if so?

We are considering just getting married at a registar's office then applying for my spousal visa.  Is this going to be simple since I'm already cleared to be in the UK?  Or will this be another circus?

If anyone can give any advice or share expierences I'd appreciate it.

I had a registry wedding first and it was easy.  I think if you are in Scotland it's even easier. (Am I right here?)  I can only tell you what I did, not what is actually legal or not.  Since you do have the Visa for now though you should be fine.  Our Registry wedding was in January, however I went home at the end of Feb for three months leading up to our big white  wedding!  I know if you look through a lot of the visa posts you will find your answer, plus Garry is our leading Visa expert here on the board and he would know best.

I had a fiance' visa and got married at the registry office. The spousal visa was pretty simple and straightforward afterwards. No problems here at all!

I got my fiancee visa extended, but that was back in early 2003.
