Moving to UK help!
« on: February 02, 2017, 06:46:25 PM »
I live in the US and my boyfriend lives in the UK, he is originally a polish citizen and is exercising treaty rights in the UK. We have been together for over 2 years though we have not lived together. I really want to know what options are there for me to move to the UK? Work and skilled visas are out of the question, considering I do not fit any specific shortage in the UK.

All I've seen pretty much that seems the most direct route is EEA spouse visa but is there anything else? Any other visas to consider or other routes? We plan on getting married though not within this time range.  If you've had experience with this, any insight would be amazing. ive heard of the partner visa unmarried though it seems a bit complicated to get approved without the 2 years of cohabiting.

again, please any help would be very appreciated thanks

Unmarried partner is very black and white.  You have to have two solid years of living together (with visas that allow) to qualify.  So no point barking up that tree.

Marriage is the best option, but obviously a big commitment.  Most of us would kill to be on the EEA path, as it's virtually no cost.  Just Brexit adds an element of uncertainty....

Is he a British citizen too now?
