As a UK citizen resident in the US for 40 years who is contemplating a return to the UK in retirement, I’ve been reading a lot of the Tax board postings lately. I found that the more I read, the more confused I became. No reflection on the many incredibly helpful people who post.
Part of my confusion is the plethora of acronyms, initialisms and numbers. All perfectly clear to those who have already mastered the topic, but I found myself bouncing between UKY, IRS, HMRC, and Wikipedia by which time I had lost the thread completely.
For my own edification, I started a list of the various acronyms and form numbers. I thought it might be useful to others like me who can't tell a NQDC from a FATCA, but it’s now two pages long and I didn’t want to breach etiquette with something that long. This isn’t a full explanation of any of it, just expanded acronyms with occasional comments. And probably not error-free.
Is there any interest in seeing this?
