The first FLR(m)....concerning correspondence
« on: February 22, 2017, 12:30:35 PM »
Hello kiera here. Thanks for taking a moment and helping me wrap my head around this. I can see where they would want the 6 or 8 items showing joint names if you are going for the second extension. You would have already been in the country 2 1/2 years. However, we are getting married March 1st, our interview is March 6th. The bank where he has an account wouldn't allow me to open up my own account(under sur name) because I wasn't on any other utility bill. I have 2 pieces of correspondence showing my name now from the states to give to the officer. Basicially, in order to put my name on anything, we have to be married first. I have a two day window before the interview. Does this mean I am completely screwed?
Love is still the answer.

Just to relieve you worries - it's not an interview.  You will literally be handing your documents to someone instead of putting them in a mail slot.  It's just a faster processing time.  As a member here once said, it's like a fast pass at Disney World.  You ride the same ride, just one person gets to cut the line.

They won't expect you to have your name on 6 items of mail (that is, after all, the requirement after 2 full years in the UK).  If you have your name on anything, bring it with you.  The two items you have will be fine.  I'm surprised people are telling you that you need to be married first though.

That came from the assistant manager of the bank, she said I would need to be on the county tax bill or bring in my marriage license, company policy. But, thanks again KFdancer, last year you held my hand in getting the fiance visa, went without a hitch! We should have everything we need, so I need to breath and try to relax.   Thanks alot!  :)

My husband was able to add me to our council tax relatively easily--and they immediately sent a document confirming that both of us are listed at the address.  I know he did not need our marriage certificate or any of my ID because he did it the week before I arrived, and I had the marriage certificate with me.

MPI, thank you for responding, my fiance had called the council tax people about putting me on there, I think all they did was change the amount, but didn't put my name on it, like reissuing the bill. He has called them again this time, specifically requesting my name be put on. Also, I wanted to say thanks to ksand24 for helping with my fiance visa last year. This process can be so daunting! But, the information found here, along with the friendliness, makes it so much easier! I can't say enough nice things about this place! ;D

When I went through it last year, council tax was an easy one to get on and then our water company. They were the only utility company who would put me on, and they did so quickly. Maybe give yours a ring see if they can and the request a statement in the post asap. :)

Oh I've just thought of another one. When you register at your GP, there is probably an option for paperless or something.  (Mine asked if they may call me/mail me/etc.)  Opt in for the paper mail.  Then they will send you a handful of things periodically.  I'm holding on to those in case those count as official mail--can anyone confirm that they do or don't?

Things like hospital appointments or notes after a meeting definitely count.  Junk mail, I'm afraid not.

If it's official and has NHS on it, it counts.

I got a lovely suggestion for a smear test last month and into the pile that went! Haha.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I got confirmation of my NHS prescription card in the mail, and was like WOO HOO for the exact same reason.  ;)
