FLR(m) forms question!
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:55:17 AM »
Hey guys! I've just started filling out my paperwork for my FLR(m) appointment on the 10th, and feel like my brain isn't working properly as I can't seem to tell the difference between two options.

I'm referring to pages 11/12 - question 2.3:
"Please indicate what stage of extension of leave you are applying for or why you are choosing to extend your current leave in one of the above categories."

A) Second period of leave to remain (following initial grant of leave to remain as a partner of a settled person or person who is in the UK with refuge leave or humanitarian protection, or as a child of a person who has limited leave as the partner of a settled person).

Or

B) Further period of leave following a previous grant of leave to remain as a partner if a settled person or person who is in the UK with refuge leave or humanitarian protection, add a child of a person who has limited leave as the partner of a settled person, or following an initial period of entry clearance as a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner of a settled person - 6 months.

They seem the exact same, so I am really freaking confused! Lol any help would be great! FYI in case you need my history, I came to the UK on a fiancée visa in May 2014, was granted my initial FLR(m) in October 2014, and am now applying for my second FLR(m) which expires 4/4/17.

Thank you in advanced!!

Oops, just accidentally deleted my reply.

It was:

It is confusing but I believe you are applying under the first one,A), as this is your second period of leave to remain as a partner of a settled person.

I think B) would apply if you were currently on a fiancé visa and applying for your first FLR(M). I wonder if B) has the incorrect wording and instead should be for people switching to FLR(M) from a different visa type.

Agree with ksand.

I think the "further period of leave to remain" is for people on the 10 year path versus the 5 year path.

Ah, yes - that makes sense... I looked at the form and I see there are several options and the first FLR(M) is already covered so it seems sensible that it would be for the 10-year path as those people on it have to apply for two more FLR(M) visas than those on the 5-year path.

Just came across another one I'm not quite sure what the question means: "What type of ceremony was your marriage or civil partnership?"

It was obviously a marriage, so....? lol

It means was it a civil or a religious ceremony?

The same question should have been on your previous FLR(M) application though.
