Who's got a new £ coin?

I've been trying to get one since Tuesday and nobody had one.  Finally, the people at my favourite coffee shop saved two for me:

I've been wanting to see one for days!!

We still haven't seen one yet and this morning at a cafe for breakfast I noticed that the till still had a compartment full of old £1 coins.

Yesterday (Friday) we had an interesting experience. We were picking up a friend from the Sunderland Eye infirmary and parking was £2.  We put in 2 old £ coins, and it printed out the ticket, and just as we were walking away we heard it rattle so went back and found 3 old £ coins in the drawer.  Nice. We wondered if it had been modified to accept both old and new coins but the modification had not been done properly.

I got one!  Someone paid with it in the library and I almost drooled, I was so greedy to nab it.  I still can't see the hologram but I shall keep looking.

Not yet but I still have several threepenny bits from 1972

I got one!  Someone paid with it in the library and I almost drooled, I was so greedy to nab it.  I still can't see the hologram but I shall keep looking.

The hologram is in the little square beneath the queen's head.  Turn it side to side and you'll see the symbol.
